Wilhelm Friedemann Bach: Sonata in c minor for Viola and obbligato Cembalo, RG124

This release is an exception to my principle of publishing hitherto unknown/unpublished, or at least unavailable works. In fact, although this is currently unavailable attributed to WF Bach (there was an edition from Peters, now out of print), it is available attributed to JG Graun. Sadly this edition is heavily over-edited, so it is impossible to know what information (notes, dynamics etc) comes from where, whom and when. There is indeed doubt as to who wrote the sonata -- it is attributed to WF Bach in the Library of Congress, Washington DC, and to Graun in Berlin. I personally am certain that it is by WF Bach, as it bears all the hallmarks of his idiosyncratic style. In any case, it is an extremely interesting, powerful and expressive piece, that should be in every viola player's repertoire.
